“My favorite part of playing for Crisis was the relationships that were fostered and sustained throughout my four years with strong, cool, weird, funny, and amazing women. The team environment is very welcoming and focuses on positivity. My favorite part of ultimate is when a play or drill that has been practiced many times gets executed seamlessly in a game.”

 - Jess Sourbeer (2020 Alumni)

“Playing for Crisis Ultimate has been the best part of my college experience. We’ve gone through it all together. We’ve shared laughs, tears, stories, moments, literally everything and I would have it no other way. I love that we have a variety of skills so you’re always learning from someone, and you always have people to learn along with. We’re constantly working together, cheering our teammates on, giving endless hugs & high fives, and forming our best friendships. Many of us find ultimate in college, so as players there’s a lot of growth. The community is so inviting and accepting, which allows many players to grow as people too. My absolute favorite part of Ultimate is by being on a team, you’re actively helping all your teammates grow. I loved watching my teammates put in endless work and develop with me from the second I joined as a confused sophomore, to the moment I graduated.  I would be nowhere without the love and support of my teammates, and am happy they pushed me to be the player and person I am today.”

 - Alysa D’Costa (2020 Alumni/Captain 2019-2020)

“Coming into college I knew I wanted to play a club sport of some sort that didn’t have too much of a time commitment while I got used to my class schedule and college life. At this point I had no idea about the ultimate community or even how to throw a disc properly, but I joined and am so happy to have found Crisis! It’s such a warm, welcoming community of girls who are passionate about frisbee and physical activity. I only had some experience playing frisbee before joining and was nervous about learning but everyone on the team is there to help you learn and grow as a player. Both aspects of Penn State ultimate (social and physical) are so fun and I’ve met some of my best friends through Crisis and Spank (psu boys ultimate a team). Traveling for tournaments is a great time as well and you really get to see the sport come together and apply everything you’ve worked on at practices into your playing. Crisis’ team spirit on the sideline at a game, at practice, or even team lift/ conditioning is so wholesome and encouraging: everyone is pushing each other to be the best that we can be. This is only going to be my second year playing for crisis but I’m ecstatic to see our team grow these next few years!”

 - Izzy Thompson (Sophomore)

“I joined Crisis as a graduate student last year because of my passion for the sport. I was unsure how I was going to be able to balance playing ultimate with my busy school schedule, but the team was very understanding and had great communication with me throughout the season.  Moving to a new school, I was hoping to make new friends through my team, but what I found exceeded my expectations.  I can honestly say that Crisis made me feel at home in a brand new place, and I can’t wait to help lead this team next year.  My favorite thing about ultimate is the welcoming environment and helping newcomers learn and develop the skills to become great players.”
